TREND ALERT PARIS FASHION WEEK
THE STYLE FILES
Last week as always Paris closed the fashion world's busiest month. The Spring/summer 2020 show season officially drew to a close on Tuesday evening. Things ended on a high note, thanks to a whirlwind Paris Fashion Week that included important reminders about climate change from designers like Stella Mccartney, a handful of jaw-dropping sets and a catwalk crasher at Chanel, who was well handled by Gigi Hadid.
Paris Fashion Week is where trends are made. They may first pop up in New York, London, or Milan. But, it's in Paris, the home of the industry's most revered fashion houses, that they're truly solidified. But what's all that to say about the actual clothes you'll be considering in the year to come? There are a handful of inspired trends that popped up throughout the week-and-a-half of events. Followers of the seasonal collections will certainly find a few familiar themes: Celine under the helm of Heidi Slimane ( former head of Saint Laurent) took us back
to the '70s when Parisian girls — and their effortless silk separates — were the envy of the world. There were also plenty of flashy metallics and bold psychedelic florals to help you embrace a new you as a new era dawns. Elsewhere in the city, it was all about the outdoors with Thom Browne who invited the fashion folk to the incredible gardens of Versailles as well as forest of trees that were planted at Dior. Come spring, you'll have no shortage of sartorial options as the 2020 you takes centre stage. Ahead, the only spring trends that matter.
