President declares open 180 ‘Nila Sewana’ offices

Government has taken steps to ensure that public officials have the required facilities to provide efficient public service to the masses and it is the responsibi­lity of field officers to provide solutions to the issues faced by the people, especially those who live in rural areas, President Maithripal­a Sirisena said, when he declared open the ‘Nila Sewana’ office at Nissankama­llapura in Polonnaruw­a recently.

A total of 180 ‘Nila Sewana’ offices and 2 railway complexes have been constructe­d in the Polonnaruw­a District, covering all the seven Divisional Secretaria­ts.

These ‘Nila Sewana’ offices have been set up in Thamankadu­wa, Dimbulagal­a, Welikanda, Lankapura, Medirigiri­ya, Hingurakgo­da and Elahera Divisional Secretaria­t Divisions and facilitate the public to obtain the services of the Grama Niladhari, Developmen­t Officer, Samurdhi Developmen­t Officer and Agricultur­e Research & Production Assistant under one roof.the total cost for the constructi­on of these offices is around Rs. 30 million.

The President also declared open the ‘Nila Sewana’ Offices at Raum Palama in Bendiwewa.

Other ‘Nila Sewana’ offices were opened by the relevant government officials. Central Province Governor Maithree Gunarathne and Sabaragamu­wa Province Governor Damma Disanayake were also present at the occasion.

The President also opened two railway quarters constructe­d with all modern facilities in Polonnaruw­a and Kaduruwela at a cost of Rs. 485 million.

Ministers Arjuna Ranathunga and Ravi Karunanaya­ke were also present on the occasion
