University of Sri Jayewardenepura defeat University of Moratuwa 2-0

University of Jayawardenapura (UOJ) defeated University of Moratuwa 2-0 in their men’s ‘B’ Division Pioneer Shield fixture conducted by the Colombo Hockey Association at the Astro turf. At half time UOJ led 1-0.

In the 25th minute a field goal by S. Ekanayake made it 1-0 for University of Jayewardenepura and in the 42nd minute they were awarded a penalty corner which was converted by Lakmal Seneviratne to give UOJ a 2-0 win.

KDU BEAT OLD ZAHIRA HC 2-0

Kotalawela Defence University (KDU) defeated Old Zahira Hockey Club 2-0 in their ‘B’ Division Pioneer Shield hockey fixture at the Astro turf. Both goals were scored in the first session of the game. In the fourth minute of play G.R. Dharmaratne put KDU one up and four minutes later he repeated the performance to give KDU a 2-0 win.

OLD ANANDIANS IN CLOSE WIN OVER PRESIDENT’S HC

Old Anandians posted a close 3-2 win over President’s Hockey Club in their ‘B’ Division Pioneer Shield hockey match at the Astro turf. At half time Old Anandians led 2-1.

In the 5th minute of the game, a field goal by N. Liyanaarachchi put Old Anandians one up, but in the 18th minute Himal Fernando equalised for President’s, also with a field goal.

In the 20th minute Suresh Kumar again put Old Anandians in front 2-1. But in the 38th minute N.aravinda got his stick on to the ball to give President’s their second goal 2-2.The final goal was once again off the stick of Suresh Kumar to deal a 3-2 win to the Old Anandians. - BM.
