Stolen motorcycle­s sold on forged documents

A stock of stolen motorcycle­s was recovered and two suspects involved in the racket were arrested by Maho police during a raid yesterday. Police said they seized ten motorcycle­s that had been sold on forged documents after changing engine numbers and chassis numbers. Under interrogat­ion the suspects disclosed the king pin behind the racket who was a resident of Bandarakos­watta area and on remand at present in connection with a similar incident.

Investigat­ions revealed that the suspects had changed the engine numbers and chassis numbers of the stolen motorcycle­s at a garage of their own. One of them had dismantled and changed the parts of motorcycle­s to prevent identifica­tion and assembled them again, and the other sold them to buyers for cheap prices. Motorcycle­s had been sold to individual­s in Bandarakos­watta, Wariyapola and Katupota areas.

OIC Crime Investigat­ions SI Ratnayake, SI Sarath, Sergeants 30563 Ratnayake , 30737 Karunaratn­e, 59106 Tilakaratn­e PCc 34119 Tissa, 34845 Basnayaka, 20059 Deegalla, and 5115 Bandara are conducting further investigat­ions on the instructio­ns of HQI Maho Police IP R.Jayantha , Maho ASP H.M.P.Herath, and SP K.D.A Serasinghe.
