JVP irked; Calls for polls
The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) which came out strongly against the appointment of new Ministers yesterday said the party would soon decide whether to stay in the National Executive Council or not.
JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told a media briefing that his party would make a final decision on the matter soon.
Mr. Dissanayake said ministerial portfolios had been given to very persons who were charged with corruption.
This he said has been done when MPs were close to be netted.
The JVP leader said the ministerial posts have been given to those, who have been rejected by the people. In that context Dissanayake said the ministers of the previous government were defeated at the Presidential Election in addition to former President.
Further he said the ministers of the previous regime faced more allegations than former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“Even S. B. Dissanayake who threatened to strip the former President Chandrika Kumaratunga and drag her along the ground had been given a ministerial post. What kind of a joke is this?" Mr. Dissanayake questioned
Further the JVP leader said he would question the legitimacy behind SLFP stalwart Nimal Siripala De Silva holding post of Opposition leader, when his party had become a part of the government.
