NAVY SC LOOKS TO EXTEND EARLY LEAGUE LEAD

-

Early table-leaders Navy SC will face a tricky challenge by Army SC – who were unfortunate to lose both their fixtures so far but two and three points respectively – when they meet in their Dialog Rugby League Division ‘A’ game at Police Park, Colombo today.

Unbeaten Navy were pushed by CH and FC (29-13) and Police SC (31-17) in their opening fixtures of the season, but managed to score a bonus point in each game, which sees them lead the table ahead of second-placed Havelock SC, who are also unbeaten but have just a single bonus point.

The Havies, who just managed to hold off the Army to win 25-22 at Diyagama last week, will travel to the Air Force Grounds in Ratmalna to face Air Force SC, who were pummelled by CR and FC 44-27 last week, is scheduled to kick off at 4.30 p.m. tomorrow.

Air Force was given a bye in the first week, and has played just one game this season, and will look to put in a better performance than they did at Longdon Place last Friday.

Defending champions Kandy SC, currently third in the rankings, will face the resurgent Police SC on Sunday and despite having a tough outing in their second week match at Maitland Crescent last Sunday, will realise that the small matter of home support would work to their advantage.

CH and FC will host the Upcountry Lions in the other fixture.
