Dulanjana and Chanaka guide Navy to innings win

A match bag of 9 for 54 by Dulanjana Mendis and an all round performanc­e by Chanaka Ruwansiri helped Navy record an innings and 12-run win over Police in their Premier Tier ‘B’ cricket encounter concluded at Welisara yesterday.

Police resuming from their overnight score of 24 for 1 felt uncomforta­ble with the spin pair of Dulanjana and Chanaka who shared the ten wickets to fall between them, as Police succumbed to a score of just 146 runs to give Navy their second outright win of the tournament.

BRC secured their first outright win when they defeated Saracens SC by seven wickets in the match concluded at the BRC ground yesterday. Saracens SC resuming from their overnight score of 58 for 2 despite a 102 stand for the second wicket between Kanishka Amarasingh­e and Mohamed Aslam failed as their late order batting crumbled being bowled out for 285. This left BRC a target of 89 runs to win which they reached in just 11 overs.
