SAN Fulgencio local police recovered two stolen vehicles on the morning of March 9.

They had been alerted to the theft of several items from a supermarket in the commercial area alongside the N-332 road.

The suspect was wearing a hood and had managed to escape on foot.

However, several witnesses reported seeing a car nearby with another person inside intending to pick up the thief and escape.

Thanks to the descriptions they gave, officers managed to find and stop the vehicle, which they discovered had been reported stolen in the municipality.

They arrested the suspect and took the car to the municipal pound for it to be picked up by its rightful owner.

That afternoon, a patrol noticed a vehicle parked suspiciously in La Marina urbanisation.

After checking its number plate and details they found that it had also been stolen in the municipality and they contacted the owner to inform them that it had been recovered.

A police spokesman said that both incidents were the result of increased vigilance and coordination of patrols all over the municipality.

Random traffic checkpoints are also being set up to further reinforce security and protection of the public, he added.

Mayor and councillor for security José Sampere called on the public to collaborate with the council and the police because ‘this is always invaluable help for our work’.
