Unlike many actors, Eda Ece loves seeing herself on TV and watching her performances, especially as Yildiz on Doodsondes (originally titled Yasak Elma in Turkey, where it’s aired since 2018). “It’s to get a better idea of what I’m doing right and wrong,” says the actress. “It’s important to see my work, to see what I can improve on to make my character more believable, although from viewer response, I’m doing pretty okay.”
1 The 30-year-old has been acting since she was 12, appearing in recurring roles in telenovelas Hayat Bilgisi (2003-2005) and Bez Bebek (2007-2010). Her acting took a backseat in 2008 so that she could study at varsity – she has a degree in psychology from Istanbul’s Bilgi University. “My parents told me that I can follow my dreams but only if I had a backup,” says Eda.
2 She’s currently stuck at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has shut down filming across Turkey.
3 Eda posted to her social media, “It is difficult being at home because it’s boring, I miss playing Yildiz and all the situations she gets into. Hopefully we will be filming again soon.”
4 Something else Eda misses is going to soccer games, which are being played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic too. She’s a fan of Turkish champions Galatasaray SK.
5 The actress speaks three languages – Turkish, English and German, and she wants to learn more. “I’d love to be able to speak French and Italian. They are so romantic,” she says.
6 Eda loves art and growing up she wanted to work in her father’s art gallery. NB! See more on p35
