SHAKA RETURNS FROM THE DEAD
Star who made abrupt exit from The Queen to thrill fans again
STHEMBISO Khoza’s abrupt exit on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen last year left fans in a frenzy. The star is due to make his return to the show soon.
The telenovela recently came under a lot of criticism with numerous exits of popular actors, including Rami Chuene. Now the show is introducing new characters that will be portrayed by Jessica Nkosi and Menzi Ngubane, who recently exited long-standing drama Isibaya.
Khoza, popularly known as SK, took some time to chat to The Star about his return and what he’s been up to.
THE STAR (TS): The return of Shaka, how does it feel to be back?
SK: Honestly I am super excited, I can’t wait for Shaka to return and of course we all know he’s going to definitely come back to sort out Kagiso and Dingane.
Shaka is a hot head, so always expect the unexpected from him.
He has a score to settle with Kagiso and Dingane.
TS: Fans were obviously shocked at the death of Shaka. Will the return be as shocking and exciting?
SK: Definitely! It’s out now that he’s coming back, but how he’s coming back is the big question. It’s going to be a total shocker. Our loyal fans/viewers have been pleading for Shaka to return (judging from all the tweets and Instagram stories I have been tagged on). I want to thank each and every person who signed the petition and went on social media to fight to bring Shaka back.
TS: What’s most exciting about this return?
SK: I really missed playing Shaka, and so I’m very excited to reprise my role. I love the show and can’t wait to be reunited with everyone. A lot of people spoke negatively about me towards the death of Shaka, saying I got fired.
So I am happy to prove them wrong with this return (besides the obvious reason of the love I have playing the character).
TS: What does acting mean to SK, personally?
SK: It means the world to me. I always look forward to bringing a character to life. It’s like waking up every day to have the opportunity to be someone else for 12 hours. Especially having not studied drama and being able to not have anyone saying it shows that I can’t act. Acting is my way of life, it is in me and it is me. TS: What were you up to during the break from The Queen?
SK: I shot a series (can’t mention it now) for Mzansi Magic, not sure when it will be airing on our screens. I also got the opportunity to work on another Ferguson Films production, Kings Of Joburg, alongside my brother Abdul. I had the time of my life. Look out for it.
