Golden Arrows sharpen up

- Kamlesh Gosai

THE pieces of Golden Arrows’ attacking puzzle are finally coming together with the confirmation of winger Kudakwashe Mahachi’s return and the arrival of a Colombian striker for a trial.

Zimbabwean attacker Mahachi is on board, although the terms of his contract are as vague as his recruitment from Mamelodi Sundowns midway through last season.

“He is here and I’m told he’s available, so it’s a big bonus to have him,” said Arrows coach Clinton Larsen.

“He was a regular with Gladwin Shitolo in our midfield, and to miss two of them would have been a blow.

“I’m happy to have him in terms of continuity, and he’s always good for a goal. Plus he’s got speed, which is a key element of how we like to play,” said Larsen.

Shitolo featured on loan from Orlando Pirates last season and is expected to be an integral member of new Bucs coach Muhsin Ertugral’s plans.

The unnamed Colombian forward arrived on Monday and had his first training outing with Arrows yesterday.

He will probably get a chance to show his qualities when Arrows play in the semifinals of the Premier’s Cup in Richards Bay on Sunday.

Meanwhile, First Division side Real Kings confirmed the signing of midfielder Madoda Motha and Tanzanian defender Abdulhalim Humoud.
