Prepared and ready to play at Durban’s first 80s Rewind bash
DON’T be alarmed at the sudden proliferation of clashing colours, big hair and, eek!, leg warmers on Durban streets.
It’s 80s Rewind Festival time and later today all 10 acts will have arrived in readiness for tomorrow’s big bash at Mr Price Kings Park.
Organisers have asked fans to get into the spirit of SA’S first Rewind festival by dressing up in their favourite 80s garb, with the chance of being spotted as one of the bestdressed couples who will win a trip for two to England’s festival later in the year.
Two lucky Mercury readers can also win guitars autographed by all the 80s Rewind artists. All proceeds will go to the Shepherds Keep Children’s Home on the Bluff. To enter, simply SMS Rewind and Shepherds Keep to 45509. Be sure to include your contact details. SMSES are charged at R1.50 and the winners will be announced in The Mercury next Friday.
Word from the SA Weather Office is that it will be a dry concert day for Durban.
And now to tomorrow’s “housekeeping” at Kings Park. Event running order: Parking gates open at 11am, turnstiles open at midday, the event runs from 4pm to 10pm.
No pay on the day in the Kings Park precinct – permit holders can park as usual.
