Service delivery derailed by DA

-

THE municipal account of the executive mayor Danny Jordaan has exposed a litany of devious motives by the DA and some DA officials working for the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

The misinformation of the mayor’s municipal account is just the tip of the iceberg of how the DA-aligned officials within the municipality are constantly conspiring to embarrass the ANC-led government.

For a long time, I have been monitoring the modus operandi of some officials in the budget and treasury department.

Every time close to the elections, officials indiscriminately disconnect the water and electricity of residents in the township and the northern areas, deliberately agitating residents to revolt against the ANC-led government.

I have no doubt this devious action is being planned with the assistance of the DA.

The conduct of councillor Retief Odendaal should be noted with concern.

The fact that he could unequivocally say the Jordaan family did not report the matter to the municipality, means there are some officials who do not report to the city manager but to the DA. It would be interesting to know if Odendaal could inform the public on the following about Atholl Trollip:

1 Where was he born? 2 Where does he live? 3 How long has Trollip lived in Nelson Mandela Bay?

4 Does Trollip own the house that he lives in?

5 Is Trollip’s municipal account up to date?

6 When did Trollip move from the farm to the metro?

7 What is the relationship between the minister AE Trollip who served in the cabinet of Hendrik Verwoerd and Atholl Trollip, the leader of the DA?

The ANC should make a deeper analysis of the service delivery challenges in our metro. I am convinced that many of these service delivery issues are orchestrated by DA-aligned officials.

I often ask myself the question, ‘why are there no potholes, burst water pipes, rubbish dumps etc in the western suburbs’?

Yet the same officials cannot ensure that the same services are rendered in the township and northern areas.

The challenge that the ANC has is that it has won the hearts and minds of the majority in this metro. But the officials who have kept and maintained apartheid for all these years are still in very strategic positions in the municipality.

The ANC is now faced with a situation of whether it will get rid off all those officials who still cling to apartheid, at the expense of service delivery, or will it take the bold step of firing all those officials who are causing our people to continue in their suffering?

When the DA took over Cape Town, they fired every official that looked like and smelt like the ANC, thus ensuring that their programmes will be fully implemented.

It’s clear there are individuals who want to be officials and DA politicians at the same time.

For the sake of the poor, these individuals must be rooted out once and for all.

A good example must be made of the official who tried to embarrass the ANC by leaking the municipal account of the Jordaan family to the media.
