Playstation 4 update

THE PS4 is about to receive a long overdue update. Besides user interface improvements and extra media support, you will finally be able to suspend/resume a game by clicking the PS4 button on your controller. Education online Vodacom has developed an education portal called Vodacom e-school that allows all grade 10-12 pupils who are Vodacom subscribers, to access informative content geared at supplementing their current tuition.

The service is free for the above users and is accessible from any internet device.

Vodacom executive head for corporate citizenship, Suraya Hamdulay says: “The project is in line with Vodacom’s ongoing drive to help provide ICT tools and internet connectivity to communities that do not have access. By providing access to Internet services to improve the standard of education, Vodacom is able to uplift pupils and the quality of education.

“Pupils can now complete lessons from their school syllabus, to help them improve their marks. They can also track their progress and see how they are performing compared to other pupils in a fun, easy and interactive way.”

All users need do is visit Vodacom.co.za/e-school from their cellphone, tablet or laptop to register. Thereafter, they will enjoy unlimited access to education content.

Facebook to enter the app fray

The world’s largest social network is creating features and tools designed to attract mobile device developers, as it works to offer all things to all people.

“People need to be able to express everything that matters to them with all the communities they care about,” Zuckerberg said at a recent F8 developers’ conference.

Zuckerberg speaks of people’s abilities to express themselves as the thing that sets Facebook apart from other titans in Silicon Valley. The public’s trust in Facebook will also drive their continued use of the service. When he talks about the company’s efforts to expand internet access into developing countries like India, Ghana and Colombia, he usually touts how Facebook will spur people to more openly communicate with one another. There’s also pressure on Facebook to keep introducing new ideas, largely to keep developers’ attention.

“They can’t afford to idly sit by and bank on the goodwill of their very large user base,” said Brian Blau, an analyst at Gartner. “If they’re not advancing themselves, if they’re not giving their user base enough to do and if they’re not expanding their app ecosystem, then they’re quickly becoming irrelevant.” Life on Mars Curiosity Rover has found evidence of nitrogen on Mars, says Nasa.

The find adds to reports that the red planet could once have sustained life. By drilling into Martian rocks, Curiosity found evidence of nitrates, compounds containing nitrogen that can be used by living organisms.

The Curiosity team has already found evidence that other ingredients needed for life, such as liquid water and organic matter, once existed at the site known as Gale Crater.
