Casts of ‘Honk!’, ‘Calendar Girls’ to be honoured on Twelfth Night

-

CAST members and directors of the critically acclaimed Port Elizabeth productions last year – Calendar Girls and Honk! – are up for top honours tonight. The Pemads annual Twelfth Night Awards take place at the Little Theatre at 6 for 6.30pm.

Calendar Girls is based on the true tale of the doughty yet naughty members of the Women’s Institute (WI) of Yorkshire who were photographed for a charity calendar in traditional WI activities with strategically placing teacups, flowers and home-baked tarts over their (mostly) middle-aged flesh.

Honk! is a zany musical comedy with many a social lesson and a host of intriguing characters based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling as Ugly goes in search of his real mother.

Best actress and best actor nominees for Honk! are Minkie Ludik, Litha Hewitt-Coleman and Damien Anderson respectively.

In the best supporting actress category, Yolande Farrow and Sarah Morton are nominated for Calendar Girls and Vanessa Smith for Honk!

Best supporting actor nominees are Mark Farrow and Arthur Daniels ( Calendar Girls) and Anton Steyn (Honk!)

Best novice performance nominee is Usi Nteyi for Honk! and best featured actor/actress in a cameo role nominees are Isabel McTiffin and Robert van den Ordel for Calendar Girls.

For best director honours, Lesley Barnard for Calendar Girls and Greg Everard for Honk! are in line.

People are invited to bring their picnic basket and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or juice, some entertainment and the awards ceremony.

Entrance fee is R20.
