Fradd, Maingard rule in Mauritius

South Africa's Robbie Fradd and Ricky Maingard dominated proceeding­s on Sunday and thanks to their efforts, were crowned champions at the Mauritius Internatio­nal Jockeys' competitio­n.

Sitting in sixth place heading into the day, Fradd came out on top in the Jockeys' competitio­n, winning with 39 points. Brazil's Elione Chaves finished runnerup with 38 points, with France's Maxime Guyon third on 33 points.

Craig Zackey led the field into the final day thanks to his two wins on board Skip The Red and Promissory, as well as finishing on the podium with Pop The Question, Silver Bluff, New Golden Age, and a fourth with Elysian Park, Zackey has 27 points overall.

In the trainers' competitio­n, Maingard was crowned champion with 39 points. With three wins and a fourth place finish, he jumped all the way from seventh to first, ahead of Preetam Daby, who finished runner-up with 35 points. These two trainers saddled the winners of the two feature races.

Imperial Dancer's win in the final race meant that Simon Jones finished on the podium with 26 points, two ahead of Ramapatee Gujadhur, who was awarded the Trophée Sir Robert & Lady Maria Farquhar for 2017, largely to winning all four classic races. - Mauritius Jockey Club Final Jockeys' standings 1.
