Stellies duo could cause havoc

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker is hoping to see his striking duo of Waseem Isaacs and Judas Moseamedi (right) cause havoc in the DStv Premiership this season.

Moseamedi was brought into the Cape Town-based club from Maritzburg United prior to the start of this campaign.

His acquisition paid dividends in the first game of the season for Stellies, scoring the club’s second goal of the match, having been introduced as a second-half substitute after Isaacs had opened the scoring against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Barker reckons the arrival of Moseamedi will help Isaacs in making sure they are more convincing going forward, something that was missing at the club last season.

“We identified that killing off games was a real area where we were lacking last season and we wanted to improve in that area. So to have brought both Isaacs and Moseamedi in and for both to be on the scoresheet is fantastic for us,” said Barker.

“They are two big strikers and they will have to share the load among each other. There might be some days where they’ll both be on the park and hopefully they can cause problems for teams by their aerial threat and physicality. And hopefully it gives others the freedom to play off them. We are pleased with both of them.”

Looking at the game, Stellenbosch started brightly after scoring first, before allowing Bucs back into the game.

However, seeing that it was their opening match of the new season, Barker was content with the display from his troops.

Next up for Stellies is a meeting with TS Galaxy in Cape Town tomorrow, with the Rockets off a 0-0 draw against Kaizer Chiefs.
