Hakim becoming a winning legend at Kranji

- Larry Foley

The Hakim Kamaruddin show continued unabated last Saturday when the “Kelantan Kid” added another four winners to his 2021 total.

This run of success has him in rare air and with Duric on sick leave and Maia settling into Hong Kong, the apprentice is THE jockey to follow and no reason to jump off the Hakim bandwagon Saturday.

He can open his account in Race 1 with WINNING LEGEND well placed to win, but his best ride of the night may just be a maiden - OUR SECRET WEAPON - having his first start in Class 5 (Race 8).

The three-year-old has been disappointing since placing on debut on the Poly behind the smart TUESDAY, but given he had a crack at the Golden Horseshoe and now finds himself in the weakest of races, he should really win and continue the Hakim golden run.

Most of his other mounts look solid each-way hopes but you wouldn’t back against Hakim getting at least two of them home.

Elsewhere on the card, a relatively “new” jockey in the Singapore racing ranks in Danny Beasley could also be a hoop to follow. The popular Australian hung up the saddle some four year back but remained in Singapore working for the Dan Meagher stable.

But in Beasley’s own words - “the spark never quite went out”- and the affable Aussie can return a winner with perhaps LIM’S ZOOM his best chance in the lucky last.

Now, when will Saimee be back?
