PROTECT YOUR MENTALITY DURING THE LOCKDOWN
CHANGE YOUR PACE
Get up on time, get dressed and structure your day. Make your bed and keep your home neat. If your environment is clean and ordered, you will feel more in control.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
Wash and sanitise your hands frequently and do not touch your face. Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing, or cough and sneeze into your elbow. And always wear a mask!
PRACTICE MINDFULNESS
Sit, walk, eat and breathe mindfully. The lockdown is an opportunity to discard bad habits and to cultivate new, healthier ones because we have more time to think, to evaluate and to plan.
SLEEP AND RELAX
Breathing exercises and other relaxation techniques can assist with anxiety. Be mindful of overstimulation by electronic devices such as TV and cellphones. Try to get enough sleep.
EAT HEALTHILY
During lockdown it is important to make good food choices and start preparing meals from scratch and engage with your children in their preparation and cooking.
EXERCISING
Physical exercise is as important as mental exercise. Being confined to your house will present challenges, but even doing your own housework can be a good way of keeping active.
REMAIN HOPEFUL
Try to think of the lockdown as a marathon and not a sprint. But know that this will also come to an end. This is the ideal time to cultivate positive behaviours and to build strengths.
