Speedy sprinter will like Durbanville

Cape Town racing returns to the Durbanville ‘country course’ on Saturday and Bwana and Brave Move in Races 5 and 6 respectively appeal as the outstanding win bets.

Bwana has won two races from three starts and Brett Crawford’s rising star makes his first appearance at this course and drops to 1000m, but both those factors are likely to add to his chances, and from a favourable draw he will take some catching.

Top weight Al Wahed could give most cheek. He runs well here, is ultra-consistent, and has won with Donovan Dillon before. Dalibhunga is another with a shout if the grey gelding can overcome a bad draw.

The Adam Marcus yard is in brilliant form and the other top bet of the day is his charge Brave Move in the sixth. This Horse Chestnut filly has shown her class with a couple of facile wins in her last two starts, and is probably still a couple of steps ahead of the handicapper.

She faces another small field this time and should be too strong. As in the previous race the main opposition is at the top of the weights in the form of Love To Boogie.

She won well here after a six month absence and then wasn’t disgraced five lengths off classy youngster Elusive Heart in the Grade 3 Prix Du Cap. She tries 1600m for the first time, and if handling the extra distance can put in a serious challenge. These two should fight it out.

Course specialist Rustar Dhow in the fourth race is another with solid winning prospects. She has won three races from five starts here, and jockey Richard Fourie has dominated recent Cape Town meetings.

But all of Make It Raine, Straat-Kind, Sequined and Above Eleven can be given a realistic winning chance.
