The Ranger continues to be a trend-setter in the popular LCV market.

Okay so it took a few months after the launch of the Ford Ranger 2.2 TDCi Automatic for us to get a first drive in this bakkie. But I must say, it was worth the wait as Ford has nailed the concept of relaxed, easy shifting motoring at the right price with these new derivative­s.

Is it the fastest bakkie in SA? No, but the engine and automatic gearbox combinatio­n really makes for easy driving both on road and off road. And like I say elsewhere in our motoring supplement, bakkies are becoming more and more popular as first choice family vehicles.

With the addition of the new 2.2 TDCi Automatic, the Ford Ranger boasts the most comprehens­ive model line-up in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment.
