MTN Joyous Celebration makes a comeback this Easter.

SA ’ s most celebrated Gospel ensemble will launch the Joyous 19 CD and DVD titled Back to the Cross at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City from April 3 to 5.

The much-anticipated album, featuring familiar Sunday school hymns and new compositions, is set to take the listener down memory lane, bringing back feelings of nostalgia with spirituality and the church.

“Our intention for this particular album was to go back to the basics, our foundation and to the music that touched and changed us and let the people of God commune with Him”, says co-founder of the gospel group, Jabu Hlongwane.

“When all is said and done, our assignment is to lead the people of God to the cross and remind them of this purpose with our latest offering. Included as part of the tracklist, is the hit single Kuregerera in Advance.” MTN, the backers of the group, are ecstatic about the forthcoming recording. “After nearly two decades at the pinnacle of the music industry, MTN Joyous Celebration continues to reach new milestones. The fans are in for an unforgettable year, ” said MTN SA’s Chief Marketing Officer Larry Annetts.

“As a proud supporter of South African music and being the brand behind this musical phenomenon, we are looking forward to another successful album and tour this year. ”

The recording of Back to the Cross marked MTN Joyous Celebration’s first performance in Soweto, Mzansi’s storied township that is rich in extraordinary moments that led to South Africa’s democracy.

Adding to this historic occasion, the gospel ensemble will be broadcast live on TV channel SABC 1, which will boast the biggest viewership in our country.
