TONYA A GOOD EACHWAY BET
Donovan Dillon set for a big day
THERE are eight races at Kenilworth today and some of them look difficult but Tonya could be worth a good eachway bet in Race 2, a FM 88 Handicap over 1600m.
This Dynasty filly has won three of her 15 starts to date and it has been awhile since her last win but she has ability and looks ready for a big run.
Jockey MJ Byleveld has been aboard Tonya in nearly all of her starts and has opted for stable companion Colour Magic in this race but in Donovan Dillon she has a more than capable replacement.
Tonya is well drawn in this small field and with frontrunners Petty Officer and Colour Magic likely to cut their throats early on, Tonya could be best placed to finish off the race.
Dillon is also aboard Apollo Star a race later and the Joey Ramsden-trained gelding could go one better this time. Apollo Star has been runner-up in his last two starts and could be at his best over this 1200m.
Jockey Richard Fourie and trainer Glen Kotzen make a formidable combination and they team with Heart Of A Legend in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1400m. This Antonius Pius filly has improved with every run and the step up in distance looks the way to go with her.
A good draw adds to her value.
Dillon could also possibly be aboard the winner of Race 5 as there was a lot to like about the debut of Dex Dexter when third behind Pergola and the Dynasty gelding should be smarter this time.
Border Control looks his main danger.
The Justin Snaith stable has been going through a bad patch this year but they do have a chance of winning the last two races.
Both One Direction and The Right Road have ability and have winning chances in Race 7.
Five-year-old mare Azarenka has not won for some time but is capable of winning Race 8 an FM 76 Handicap over 1000m. Jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe looks the right rider for her.
