Same old lies about Israel
I REFER to the letter from Ibrahim Vawda, “Writer on Zionist spin ”, November 9.
Yes, Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, stated that “a lie repeated often enough will eventually be believed ”.
I also believe in his injunction about repeating statements even if they happen to be the truth. I can think of no other way of counteracting lies, even if it means becoming monotonous and repetitive.
And so Vawda informs us about a place he calls the Zionist Entity, not Israel of course. He confronts us with all its horrors but fails to give one single reason that puts these atrocities into a different perspective.
The misnamed apartheid wall was built over some 35km to prevent suicide bombers from entering civilian areas. These holy martyrs were responsible for murdering at least 1 000 Jews on buses, in discos and elsewhere. That hated high wall reduced these murders by 90%. Inconvenient? Definitely, but for a humane cause.
He mentions separate roads for Jews and Palestinians. Proof of apartheid, until one learns that they were introduced to almost eliminate drive-by shootings.
If you were responsible for the safety of your citizens anywhere in the world, would you not do the same?
Vawda asks: “Does Israel really want peace?” This has been offered by Israel on numerous occasions, usually after the attacking Arabs were soundly defeated.
But the question should be: Why have Arabs and Palestinians been attacking Israel since the first day of its existence in May 1948?
