Soccer Laduma

What are the facts?

In last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, Mogashoa verified talk that Truter and Dladla were not seeing eye-to-eye.

Following comments made by Dladla on the weekend of Heritage Day that he would use “the games I’ve been given” to instil his own philosophy and approach, it was only natural that there would be rumours he is gunning for the head coach job.

“I have also been made aware of tension, if any exist, between our two head coaches. That is why

I’ve called them to a meeting to address whatever issues that may exist between the two and resolve them,” he told the Siya crew.

“I need to understand what’s going on between them before it gets to a stage where it might affect the performance of the team. I want them working harmoniously together. They need to lead by example and not work against each other. I expect them to work smoothly together, otherwise if they cannot work together…”

Mogashoa did not elaborate further on the consequence should the strained relationship continue to be visible and affect results.

Not long after he’d spoken to Soccer Laduma, the outspoken chairman shared a picture of Truter and Dladla shaking hands after what looked like a meeting at his offices in Germiston – though a statement from the club warned results must improve.

Truter, in fact, has an excellent record as Swallows coach since taking over in September 2019 to help guide the Dube Birds back to the topflight.

In his maiden year in the DStv Premiership, he managed an impressive sixth place position and had Swallows considered dark horses in the title race at some point during the 2020/21 season.

But their start so far has been tepid – the Dube Birds are third from bottom after five matches, having won one, drawn two and lost in three games!
