“SELFLESS and family oriented.”

These were the words used to described Emmanuel Soobramoney who was killed in an accident on North Coast Road on Saturday morning.

The 47 year old of Verulam had dropped his son, Brandon, off at work when the incident occurred.

According to his relative, Vinesh Parboo, Soobramoney left home at around 5am with his son and his co-worker.

“He left Brandon at work and was turning out of the business premises when a bakkie crashed into him. He was killed instantly and his co-worker is in a critical condition in hospital,” said Parboo.

He added that Soobramoney sustained severe internal injuries.

“When Brandon heard the sound of the crash he ran to his father’s aid. People at the scene contacted paramedics. A friend of Brandon’s younger brother contacted the family and told them what had happened,” said Parboo.

“Emmanuel was a selfless man, he was hard working and served his company for about 22 years as a boilermaker. Our family is devastated by the loss and is seeking solace in prayer,” said Parboo.

Soobramoney is survived by his wife Denise and sons Brandon, Bradley and Kyle. He was buried at the Red Hill Cemetery on Monday.

Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said a case of culpable homicide was being investigated and no arrests had been made.
