Another festival in the making
Restaurants in and around Mossel Bay responded enthusiastically to an invitation to form part of the planned Soul Festival, provisionally scheduled for 13 to 15 July.
Following the success of the Proefees, the Soul Festival aims to expand the festival to entice all the senses, with elements including Art, Culture, Music, Literature and Photography.
This also adds opportunity for more stakeholders to become involved.
During a successful planning meeting on 19 March, representatives of several restaurants in the greater Mossel Bay area indicated their willingness to join the programme in innovative and fun ways, ensuring the delectable food and drinks form an integral part of the festival that this year will endeavour to include the rural areas while the main festival arena will be at the Old Power Station on Santos Beach.
Big Pot concert
An exciting, first-ever event to look forward to will be the Big Pot concert, where a massive black cast-iron pot will form the central focus.
This pot will be used to prepare potjiekos for 2 000 to 3 000 people. Yet, while the potjie is being prepared, festival goers will be able to enjoy the wine and beer tasting, a wine pairing, the Pot concert, stalls, art and maybe even a coffee exhibition where the local coffee houses showcase the best they have on offer.
Map of events
The municipality will provide a map of participating restaurants and other venues where, for the duration of the Soul Festival, exciting experiences will be offered. To join in the festivities or to indicate whether you want to participate in the Soul Festival contact the office of director Edward Jantjies (044 606 5000) by 13 April 2018.
