Help drought-stricken in Prince Albert
Kell Aluminium and Powder Coating is challenging businesses in George to donate animal feed for a cargo that
South African Water Warriors will be taking to farms in the droughtstricken Prince Albert and Leeu Gamka areas on Saturday 7 December.
A total of 322 families of farmers and farm workers are affected by the drought in this area, according to Pieter du Plessis of Water Warriors.
"The situation is frightful. Water Warriors has been donating water, groceries and pet food, but we also need to send feed for the suffering livestock."
Frans Venter, powder coating manager at Kell Aluminium, who has been assisting Water Warriors with transporting supplies over the mountain, is appealing to all businesses to make a contribution. "Businesses that donate can in turn challenge others who are in the same sector. Let us take hands. It is the only way we can help these people who are in dire need. Individuals are, of course, also welcome to donate."
Du Plessis says Water Warriors approached Agriland SSK to cooperate in this outreach. "In this way money spent on fodder remains in George."
You can donate by buying bags of corn (R183,13), molasses meal (R191,23), Surromel milk replacement (R889,65), Voermol molasses meal (R353), lucerne pellets (R263), lucerne bales
(R143) or bran (R125).
