The Department of Home Affairs trended on Twitter after mminister Aaron Motsoaledi held a media briefing on convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester’s identity. This is how Twitter reacted.
@Malandela41320
Please ask the minister why he is muddying the waters? Why engage on the issue that is heading to court, anyway? He must oppose the matter. What he is doing now is not helping how her lawyers decide to approach the court.
@Nmhlayivana
We have kids who can’t get IDS because their mother is AWOL. Thabo Bester gets an ID just like that? Why are kids who want to further their education and have better can’t be assisted?
@Sismokgaetje
I like the way the minister is explaining the whole thing, very clearly. No kidnapping or abduction happened as Nandipha claims. She was handed to the Home Affairs enforcement officer upon landing in SA. She was then arrested. Lawyers are just queuing for invoices.
@Mazakhela1
I think the minister has been trying to send a message to the police that you ought to arrest that doctor. They seem not to be getting it.
@Am_blujay
Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi is good at explaining. Bheki Cele was asked why a private plane was chartered. He got emotional and could not say anything meaningful. Today’s explanation by the Home Affairs minister makes a lot of sense.
@Ancestorsassoc1
Dr Motsoaledi is messing up this whole thing for the government by this unguided press conference. More apologies and retractions are coming.
@lynx_thee
It’s crazy how they said Thabo Bester was not registered in home affairs but the only birth record and registration of his identity was found at the hospital where he was born and that of the correctional services. Boom, they have his ID. How??
@gnxumalo1
Clutching at straws, she’s wasting her time and money because she’s not going to win. She was in Tanzania illegally, and they deported her. She then got arrested upon landing in the country. Her fans must not get excited on this non issue.
@Jabutjp
Did they follow the process? Did they just bypass all legal procedures just to issue him a smart card for public interest? @Thegoodnews002
We are tired of hearing Thabo Bester from @Homeaffairssa. What about illegal immigrants from Nigeria selling drugs in SA?
