Correctional Services has defended former commissioner Arthur Fraser’s decision to grant former president Jacob Zuma medical parole. Zuma is appealing against the high court’s decision that found his medical parole unlawful. Twitter responded:

If the parole board recommended that JZ should be released given the health risks he faced at his age at the height of a deadly Covid-19 but DCS Commissioner, exercising his powers & discretion objected to the recommendation, Arthur Fraser would have been praised.

Arthur Fraser broke the law and released Jacob Zuma on parole, now Zuma is busy in courts trying to validate a poor legal decision. Zuma is going back to jail screaming and kicking.

Arthur Fraser cannot cling to his prerogative. That prerogative is not absolute. The Medical Parole Advisory Board cannot just be ignored on the basis of him having the powers. This is a Constitutional democracy where the exercise of power must be rational.

Certain judges are destroying a once highly esteemed profession called law. Judiciary has no business interfering with the Executive Arm of State. The HC should have dismissed the application to overturn the parole. Perhaps SCA can redeem the Judiciary

Jacob Zuma’s appeal at the SCA should not succeed because the parole decision by Arthur Fraser – a known Zuma ally – was patently unlawful. There was no rational basis for the granting of medical parole to a man who is neither terminally ill nor physically incapacitated.

As if that was not enough Zondo quickly moved in to link Fraser and him as having a corrupt relationship, breaching all codes of ethics, saying he was simply returning the favour for stayed prosecution, just to make sure Zuma does not have peace. Why should judges be so vindictive?

The person who should be held accountable now is Arthur Fraser. he must be arrested... The noise Mphahlele and Rogue Advocate Mpofu is useless, they can’t convince the SCA why Zuma qualified for the parole, it’s clear Fraser unlawfully released his bro. @Dougboshoff

Why can the public not be told what Zuma is suffering from? If it’s terminal why is he in Nkandla, travelling, giving speeches, etc? Should he not be in a hospital / clinic?
