Here’s a chance to take a peek at the Oscar films
YOU watched the awards ceremony – now don’t miss your chance to see some of the Oscarwinning films on the big screen.
In celebration of the 84th Academy Awards, selected SterKinekor and Cinema Nouveau theatres will be hosting sneak previews of The Artist on Sunday. The film opens on March 16.
The Artist took home five Oscars, for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Costume Design and Best Original Score. Martin Scorsese’s film Hugo also won five statuettes, for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Visual Effects.
Currently screening at various cinemas are other Oscar winners Midnight in Paris, The Descendants, The Iron Lady and The Muppets. You can also catch some of the nominated films like Moneyball, War Horse and My Week with Marilyn.
Meryl Streep won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in Iron Lady. Best Actor in a Supporting Role went to Christopher Plummer in Beginners, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role went to Octavia Spencer in The Help. The Descendants won for Best Adapted Screenplay and Midnight In Paris for Best Original Screenplay.
Other winners included A Separation (Best Foreign Language Film), Undefeated (Best Documentary Feature), The Muppets (Best Song), The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Best Film Editing) and Rango (Best Animated Feature Film).
