Taliban’s victory should be celebrated

- Athlone

THE Taliban victory over Panjshir and the formation of the new government are clear signs to all the naysayers and critics of the Taliban of the error of their thinking. The Talibs have clearly been awarded the dignified duty of now ruling over Afghanistan, and their victory is indeed a beautiful day for Islam and all Muslims.

They stand now as the true and legitimate voice of the Afghan people, and great accolades should be extended to our Al Jama-ah party, the only Muslim party in Parliament, for urging our government to recognise the Taliban government.

Al Jama-ah is certainly at the forefront of safeguarding the interests of Muslims in South Africa.

As true standard-bearers of Islam, the Taliban has now finally ended the war and brought peace to Afghanistan.

This is indeed the purpose of Islam through its promise of peace and justice for all humanity.

We here in South Africa should draw inspiration from the message of Islam in our battles to confront crime, corruption, and moral degeneration and extend peace to all who live here.

The fact that no South African Muslim leader of note or institution has decried or protested the rise of the new Taliban demonstrates the unity and commitment of South African Muslims to true Islam as exemplified by the Taliban.

Now is the time to engage with the Taliban and for members of other faith groups to acquaint themselves with the greater intricacies of sharia law, so as to build bridges of better understanding.

For Muslims around the world it’s time for celebration and to walk out with pride, with your head held high, as the Taliban proceed to demonstrate the beauty of divinely ordained Islamic rule and its promise for all mankind.
