Much-loved Pastor Maré attacked by bees

- Tumelo Waga Dibakwane

MBOMBELA - Pr TJ Maré, known for his unfailing community work with his organisation, We Care 4 Nelspruit, was attacked by a swarm of bees on Friday while his team was cutting grass in Ferreira Street from the Village Shopping Centre to the Steiltes circle.

According to him, his tractor’s wheel hit a bees’ nest, which started attacking him. He jumped off the still moving tractor and rolled around on the ground to try and get rid of the angry swarm. “One of the guys I work with tried to put water on me, but they also turned on him and he had no choice but to run. By the grace of God, I managed to run into one of our vehicles, but unfortunately, the windows were still open and they got into the car and continued to sting me. I managed to get plastic to cover my head, because I was afraid they might damage my eyes,” he said.

Maré added that he managed to kill some of the angry bees in the car before he was rushed to a doctor for medical treatment.

He said it was the third time he was attacked by bees, but that it was worse this time. However, he said he is still alive and the tractor was stopped and undamaged. “After I was treated, I returned to my station and continued with the work, because we had a project we planned to finish that day. I was in pain at the time, but I am much better and once again ready to serve our community,” he said.

Maré also thanked everyone who wished him a speedy recovery and the doctors who made sure he received the help he needed.

The community was just as glad that he recovered so speedily, as many people said Mbombela desperately needs this man of God, working for the benefit of all without being paid.
