DJ Akito’s first set started the night on the right note, but his second, during which he spun the latest from Major Lazer and Alesso, drew early guests in. A stone’s throw away, ladies gathered at the Damiani bar by the display of dazzling jewellery, where they sipped on mimosas topped with cotton candy. Wefies were involved. The gentlemen found their way to the Berluti bar, making merry toasts with whiskey cocktails and challenging each other to a friendly game of foosball. This was not the Singapore Tatler rendezvous that people have come to know. This was Generation T—and we were celebrating the young and passionate individuals who made our inaugural list of 50 industry movers, shakers and disrupters. At the official photo wall, revolving strobe lights shone, prompting groups to ham it up with silly faces and party poses—the kind that people should be embarrassed about, but gleefully weren’t. It wasn’t the only trigger-happy platform: the old-school photo booth that dispensed picture strips had everyone ducking in for shots while the animated gif studio setup by Maybank was an attraction of its own. Graffiti artist Adam Wang aka Dem focused on putting the finishing touches to his Gen T masterpiece at the garden terrace. His audience watched on, an ice-cold Peroni beer in one hand, Peking duck on the other. By the time host Oon Shu An introduced the Vox trio, the party was in full swing. The live feed allowed guests to experience the performance by the pop rock string musicians even if they weren’t dancing by the stage. Homegrown talent Shigga Shay, the highlight of the night, rapped his hits as models wearing Damiani gave him a run for his money. Before the 350-strong crowd dispersed into the warm August night, a Damiani silver key ring and necklace, and Berluti clutches went home with a few lucky people, ending the party on a high.
