Malaysian expats keep track of health at ‘Medical Checkup Day’
Alarge number of Malaysian expatriates in Doha benefited from the ‘Medical Checkup Day’ at Future Medical and Dental Centres yesterday, offering patients with an array of health services and tests.
The medical camp, organised by the Malaysian embassy in Doha and Malaysian Association in Qatar (MAQ), and in cooperation with the Doha Health Care Group (DHCG), aims to encourage and educate Malaysians in the country to have a regular check-up and keep track of their health.
“This is the first and a historical event that is being co-organised between the embassy and MAQ for Malaysians residing in Qatar,” Malaysian ambassador to Qatar Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said. The medical checkup includes tests such as blood sugar, renal function, total cholesterol, blood pressure, and ECG, in addition to consultation and dental treatments, among others. The envoy, who toured the facilities of the medical centre, noted that such items are highly recommended in “testing the level of healthiness of an individual.”
“I believe that the services provided by Future have been highly recognised by the community and we hope that the Malaysian community, which has around 5,000 members could come here and register,” Shamsuddin added.
“Taking good care of ourselves is paramount to the success of our recovery process and taking care of all these aspects will increase the likelihood that we stay well,” he said. According to the embassy, the DHCG, under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Qassim al-Thani, is actively engaged in Qatar’s healthcare sector since 2005.
The group put up seven multi-specialty clinics and a dental polyclinic in the country, which include Future Medical, Future Dental, Apollo Clinic Qatar, Atlas Medical, Atlas Polyclinic, Al Esra Medical and Al Esra Polyclinic, with more than 160 medical doctors, specialists and consultants in their respective field of medicines.
“We need to love our health and family by practising to live a healthy lifestyle and to go for regular medical check-ups,” said MAQ president Mohd Redzuan Nordin, who welcomed his compatriots and their families at the medical camp yesterday.
The embassy noted that most of the Malaysian expatriates in the country are professionals and semi-professionals working with Qatari and international companies in the hydrocarbon industry, banking and finance, and other sectors.
