Construction of the Sanitary Sewer System, Vega Baja, P.R.
The USDA Rural Development (RD) has received an application for financial assistance from the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority . As required by the National Environmental Policy Act, the USDA Rural Utility Service has prepared an Environmental Assessment that evaluates the potential environmental effects and consequences of the proposed project. This notice announces the availability of the Environmental Assessment for public review and comments. The proposed project will consist of the installation of approximately 6,753 linear meters of sanitary piping of 24, 18, 12, 10 and 8 inch diameter pipe lines, the installation of approximately 747 residential sanitary 4-inch connections and the rehabilitation of the existing San Demetrio Pump Station (PS). The acquisition of a parcel of land of 2,745 mtrs. 2 for the construction of the new Pumps Station, with a capacity of 1 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) and several rights of way. The installation is of approximately 1,400 linear meters of an 8-inch diameter force line. 179 sanitary manholes will be constructed and a new Emergency Generator of 72 KVA will be installed in the new Pumps Station facilities Copy of the Environmental Assessment is available for review in our local office.
