RIATF approves suspension of LSI arrivals
ILOILO City – The Regional Inter- Agency Task Force (RIATF) approved the request of the provincial government of Guimaras and t hree towns in Iloilo province for a moratorium on the return of locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
RIATF resolutions No. 48 and No. 49 suspended the arrival of LSIs in Guimaras and in the Iloilo towns of Janiuay, Oton and Pavia, respectively.

National IATF for a weeklong moratorium beginning today for “assessment, repositioning and consolidating limited resources to cater to the arrival of LSIs.”
The municipalities of Janiuay and Pavia requested for a 14-day suspension while Oton requested for a sevenday timeout.
Janiuay, in a letter dated Oct. 9 addressed to the Province of Iloilo and the RIATF, requested for a 14-day
moratorium from Oct. 10 to Oct. 24 while Pavia’s request is a moratorium from Oct. 19 to Nov. 2.
Their requests have been granted and the approved dates for suspension of LSIs arrivals are on Oct. 19 to Nov. 2.
The town of Oton’s sevenday timeout, on the other hand, will also take effect today until Oct. 25.
In requesting for the timeout, the three municipalities cited their quarantine facilities reaching full capacity.
2 V ' % wants time to decongest, disinfect and prepare additional quarantine facilities and give their frontliners and healthcare workers a break.
After the moratorium for the approved period, the suspension on the arrival or LSIs is deemed lifted.
To recall, the IATF for
Emerging Infectious Diseases, through a resolution dated Sept. 7, approved the lifting of the temporary suspension of inbound travel by returning residents to Western Visayas.
The two resolutions dated Oct. 17, 2020 were penned by Director Marlyn Convocar of the Department of Health Region 6 (RIATF vice chairperson) and Director Juan Jovian Engeniero of the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 6 (RIATF 6 chairperson). /
