MAKING EVERY MINUTE COUNT

- By SCOTT GARCEAU

It comes around faster than we think — Father’s Day is here, which means, for families, a chance to honor dads of all types with feasts and gifts and sometimes even a touch of luxury. And for dads, it’s a chance to remember their own role in steering and guiding their loved ones — and for making every minute count.

And what better way to do that than with the perfect timepiece?

OMEGA: MASTER YOUR UNIVERSE

Omega appeals to the creative spirit of dads across the world this Father’s Day. Leading the range is a classic Omega Globemaster. Inspired by Omega’s earliest Constellation models, its 39-mm case is distinguished by the fluted bezel in 18K Sedna Gold and the pie-pan dial in sun-brushed blue. Presented on a blue leather strap with a Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre inside, it’s a timepiece for the best-dressed dads.

The Omega Speedmaster ’57 was inspired by the original Speedmaster model, made especially for early racing drivers. With a slimmer look and clever “sandwich” dial, the latest design accentuates the vintage Super-LumiNova beneath the recessed hour markers.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean makes an ideal gift for Adventurous Dad. The bold timepiece is set at 43.5 mm, with a stainless steel case and bracelet, and black ceramic used for the dial and diving bezel (to a depth of 600 meters and featuring a helium escape valve for serious expeditions).

BREITLING: FROM FLIGHT TOOL TO ICON

For 70 years, Breitling’s original pilot’s watch has been beloved by aviators and tastemakers in equal measure. Worn by astronaut Scott Carpenter in space and the biggest stars on Earth (like Miles Davis, Serge Gainsbourg, and Jim Clark), it is Breitling’s most iconic timepiece.

Now Breitling introduces a new Navitimer that captures its most classic features, enhancing them with modern refinements.

A slimmer silhouette on the oscillating weight enhances the open-caseback view of the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01. The watch comes in 46, 43, or 41 mm, two case materials (stainless steel or 18-karat red gold), and a choice of straps (semi-shiny alligator or seven-row metal bracelet). Up close, the modern refinements come through loud and clear.

JAEGER-LECOULTRE: ALL ABOUT CONTROL

With the launch of The Master Control in 1992, Jaeger-LeCoultre marked the beginning of its 1000 Hours Control system, now incorporated throughout their full range of watches. Two new Master Control models, in stainless steel with interchangeable bracelets, bring the calendar display and chronograph function more fully into the contemporary world.

The latest Master Control Calendar with interchangeable bracelet comes in a dial color palette that focuses on purity and refinement. The silver sunray-brushed dial features a toneon-tone aesthetic, maintaining the essential design codes of the Master Control such as dauphine hands and Arabic numerals intercut with dart hour markers.

The Master Control Chronograph Calendar is equally pure in its chronometric expression, using blue chronograph hands and a blue moon-phase disc to bring out the indications of the complications.

Now with interchangeable steel bracelets that are compatible with other strap systems of

Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Master Control is more versatile than ever.

PATEK PHILIPPE: WATCH AND WONDER

Patek Philippe unveiled its totally new Ref. 5326G-001 Annual Calendar Travel Time at the Watches and Wonders Geneva 2022 show, for the first time introducing two of the manufacture’s iconic complications with a totally new case design in 12 new editions. The new models round out the extensive and varied selection of Patek Philippe timepieces and offer a suite of designs for ladies and gentlemen, always with emphasis on timeless elegance.

Leveraging the experience and know-how accumulated across 180 years and handed down from one generation to the next, Patek Philippe has a persuasive track record of ongoing technical advancements that today is crowned by over 100 patents. The legend lives on.

SHUBLOT: BIG BANG

wiss brand Hublot never stops bringing style to the party. With its Big Bang Integral Time Only collection, it’s launched a line of timepieces for the inquisitive, unique (never boring) dad.

The 40-mm new collection is the first threehands watch in its family, equipped with a thinner watchcase to show off the “energetic” vibe of fathers. With smaller dials, this unique “barrel shaped” watch adopts innovative and futuristic black ceramic, together with a manual-winding skeleton power reserve movement, demonstrating to all the beauty of its mechanical rotation. (Think: Steampunk Dad.)

With its excellence at combining different materials, Hublot’s yellow-gold pieces are a unique fusion of gold and rubber, exclusively unveiled early this year to pay tribute to the brand’s preferred material 40 years ago. The Big Bang Unico preserves the classic skeleton of Big Bang with gold and rubber but in a modern and trendy way.

IBLANCPAIN: FIFTY FATHOMS

ntroduced in 2007 with the launch of the contemporary Fifty Fathoms collection, the Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon 8 Jours is a symbiosis of Blancpain’s savoir faire in the realm of diver’s watches and its expertise in horological complications. Tried and tested for more than a decade, it has established itself as a superlative timepiece, enabling the beauty of the tourbillon mechanism to be admired even at great depths.

The two new versions of this prestigious diver’s watch showcase this sophisticated complication through a refined blue dial with a sunburst finish. The flying tourbillon appears to float in a large round opening at 12 o’clock. The technical complexity of this watch construction contrasts with the sporty style of the hour-markers, hands and bezel — with its notched edge giving added grip and a slightly domed scratch-resistant sapphire insert.

The 45 mm Fifty Fathoms is available in grade 23 titanium and red gold, both satinfinished. Titanium — a bold choice — is notable for its lightness, ensuring excellent wearer comfort, as well as its resistance to shocks, pressure and corrosion.
