LGBT-themed Sila-Sila, Metamorphosis big winners at Cinema One Originals 2019
Films featuring LGBT themes emerged as the big winners at the 15th Cinema One Originals awards night held on Nov. 15 at the Dolphy Theater.
Giancarlo Abrahan’s Sila-Sila, a “ghosting” story involving a gay couple, was honored Best Picture on top of other awards, namely, Best Supporting Actor for thespian Topper Fabregas in his first-ever film, Best Screenplay for Daniel Saniana and the Audience Choice Award.
It was Metamorphosis, a film that tackled intersexuality, that received the most number of recognitions, including Best Director (J.E. Tiglao), Best Actor (Gold Azeron), Best Supporting Actress (Iana Bernardez), Best Cinematography (Tey Clamor) and Best Sound (Immanuel Verona and Vince Banta).
This year’s edition of the annual film festival of the cable channel Cinema One showcased a total of eight feature-length narratives.
