Global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab has partnered with Smart Communications to launch an on-demand security service in the country, allowing internet users to secure their devices on a weekly or monthly basis, for as little as P10 to P30 for seven days.

In a media launch yesterday, the company said the Kaspersky Lab xSP is the most affordable and easiest way to protect one’s privacy, identity, family and money online especially for users with multiple computing devices.

Kaspersky Lab said it has partnered with telecom giant Smart and Talk N Text to launch the new product in the Philippines, as it aims to address the need for budgetfriendly online protection option for the country’s almost 70 million internet users.

“We’re excited to pilot this program in the Philippines which offers a very straightfor- ward solution to the seemingly universal issue of not securing internet-connected devices because the process appears bothersome and security software is expensive,” Kaspersky Lab head of APAC xSP project development Daewon he said.

“We are confident that the flexibility of the pricing options will encourage more Filipinos to try the awardwinning digital protection products from Kaspersky Lab,” he added.

Based on Kaspersky Lab’s latest mobile malware report, the Philippines ranked 10th worldwide in countries attacked by mobile malware last year.

The Philippines also topped the global internet usage index with an average of 10 hours and two minutes per day, according to an independent report.

“Our digital lifestyle compels us to stay connected in the world wide web to do almost each and every day-to-day tasks. Because of this, we have to embrace the reality that it is now more difficult to keep our personal information confidential and our money safe,” Kaspersky Lab Southeast Asia general manager Yeo Siang Tiong said.

“Kaspersky Lab is offering the xSP service in the Philippines so that Filipinos, who are known to be highly-active internet users, can enjoy the perks of staying plugged to the internet while keeping what matters most to them safe and secure,” he added.

The on-demand service is part of its value added service segment, the new on-demand part of the company, which seeks to offer hassle-free access to its next generation security solutions at more affordable and flexible pricing plans and offered through local service providers.
