Warriors back on the road

- By NELSON BELTRAN

JR Quiñahan made up for a crucial error late in regulation with a 10-point explosion in overtime, and NLEX overcame an up-anddown ride, topping Alaska Milk, 116-110, to gain a sure playoff shot at a quarterfinals berth last night in the PBA Governors Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

Quiñahan drained a go-ahead three-point shot, 112-110, then drilled in four charities to secure the victory that had the Road Warriors checking a three-game skid to again hit the .500 mark at 5-5.

They go for an automatic playoff entry as they play the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Nov. 3 over at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Aaron Fuller produced a huge doubledouble game with 42 points and 22 rebounds, with Bong Galanza, Philip Paniamogan and Michael Miranda providing key contributions as NLEX foiled Alaska’s bid for an outright Top Four finish.

Mark Barroca and Paul Lee stood their ground in their marquee matchups with Terrence Romeo and Jayson Castro, and Ian Sangalang played tall off the bench as Magnolia clobbered TNT KaTropa, 116-103, to secure a Top Four finish in the PBA Governors Cup eliminations last night.

Barroca, Lee and Sangalang provided the Hotshots tremendous boost as they rebounded strong from an earlier loss to the Meralco Bolts the last time out and seized the solo lead in the season-ending tourney with an 8-2 winloss card.
