Lions target No. 2 seed vs Generals

-

San Beda University takes on hapless Emilio Aguinaldo College side today, looking for an easy win and the No. 2 seed in Group A at the close of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup elims at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Currently at third behind Ateneo, which swept the elims for a 9-0 card, and La Salle, San Beda is tipped to get past the Generals in their 1:45 p.m. match and tie the Archers at 7-2.

The Lions, who beat the Archers in the early going of the elims and crushed the Mapua Cardinals, 95-60, the last time out, will clinch the No. 2 spot via the winner-over-the-other rule.

In other matches, St. Benilde faces San Sebastian at 3:30 p.m. with the Blazers hoping to cap their impressive campaign in Group B, which they lead with a 6-1 mark.

In case of a reversal, SSC (4-3) still won’t make it to the next round since the Stags would only tie elimination round tormentor Letran Knights at 5-3 for the last quarters spot.

Adamson (5-2), on the other hand, tangles with Lyceum (3-4) at 5:15 p.m.

The Falcons have been boosted by key acquisitions in Jerome Lastimosa, CJ Catapusan, Egie Mojica, Jed Colonia and Vince Magbuhos who took over from Nicko Paranada, Kurt Lojera, and Tyrus Hill, who have all left for various reasons.

Ousted Arellano and UST open hostilities at 12 noon.

The knockout quarterfinals resumes June 28 with the semis slated June 29 and the finals on June 30. Tickets to the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup can be purchased at the venue.
