DLSZ rules inter-school junior golf

De La Salle Zobel completed a five-division haul in the team events to dominate the recent JGFP InterSchoo­l Golf Championsh­ip at Luisita Golf and Country Club in San Miguel, Tarlac recently.

Aniceto Mandanas, Nikolo Gatmaytan, Steven Ferrer, Kristoffer Arevalo and Liam Cully pooled a 602 to edge Ateneo by two points and highlight La Salle Zobel’s overpoweri­ng performanc­e in the three-month series.

Also winning for La Salle Zobel in the tournament organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippine­s were its Girls 1 and 2 teams, Juniors 2 and Aspirants 2 with the college girls going to Ateneo and Aspirants 1 won by Xavier 1.

Mikha Fortuna, Arnie Taguines, Nicole Abelar and Astrud Moscoso won the Girls 1 division; Laurea Duque, Sophia Magbitang and Jona Magcalayo claimed the Girls 2 crown; Sean Jean Ramos, Francis Lanuza, Jolo Magcalayo, Ira Alido and Miguel Ilas took the Juniors 2 plum while Miko Granada, Kim Tae Won, Rafael Ilas and Santino Magtalas captured Aspirants 2 all for La Salle Zobel.

Winning Aspirants 1 for Xavier were Jet Ang, Emilio Carpio, Sean Young, Jacob Chua and Rico See. The Ateneo champion team for college was made up of Nikki Bruce, Yeon Jea Baek, Andrea Dybuncio, Ma. Paz Imperial and Charlyn Abalos.

DLSZ also scooped up five individual titles through Ramos, Granada, Taguines, Laurea Duque and Lia Duque ( Peewee) in their respective divisions.

Zachary Castro of Bloomfield Academy was the Aspirants 1 winner, Carl Corpus of Ateneo the Juniors 1 titlist and Bruce the college individual champ.
