Meringue, bars and cookies at The Maya Kitchen

Meringue-based desserts like sans rival and meringue kisses are featured at the Maya Kitchen class on Aug 6, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Class fee is 2,000. Coffee 101 will also be held on Aug. 6, 1-5 p.m. The class includes various techniques in steaming, frothing and foaming of milk. Class fee is P1,500.

Basic Baking is on Aug. 9-12, 23-26 and Aug. 30-Sep. 2. Class fee is P8,000. Coffee 102 is on Aug. 13. The demo class teaches the basics in choosing the right coffee plus Coffee Latte Arts Part 2. Class fee is P1,500. Basic Culinary is on Aug. 16-19. The workshop class teaches Cooking Fundamenta­ls and Internatio­nal Standard Techniques of meal preparatio­n from soup, salad, pasta, main courses to desserts for Home and Institutio­nal Scale Kitchens. Class fee is P9,000. On Aug. 20, there is Decorating Cupcakes with Fondant (2D designs). This group workshop class includes basic buttercrea­m frosting, fondant from scratch, blending colors and creating toppers. Class fee is P2,000. Pies and quiche is also on Aug. 20. The workshop class includes recipes for Apple Walnut Crumble, Egg Pie, Vegetable Quiche and Meat Lover’s Quiche. Class fee is P2,000. Bars and cookies is on Aug. 27. The workshop class includes Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Snickerdoo­dles, Food for the Gods, Coconut Fantasy Bars and Butterscot­ch Brownies. Class fee is P2,000. Japanese Sushi 101 is on Aug. 27. The workshop class teaches Salmon Nigiri, California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Vegetable Roll and Rainbow Roll. Class fee is P2,000.

The Maya Kitchen Culinary Center is open on Tuesdays to Saturdays at 8F Liberty Building, 835 A. Arnaiz Avenue (Pasay Road), Makati City.
