Doon Po Sa Amin winners showcase hometowns’ uniqueness
Seven teams of students and young professionals were recently named winners of Smart Communications’ 8th Doon Po Sa Amin ( DPSA) Awards, for creating outstanding videos that showcase unique stories about their respective hometowns.
DPSA is the country’s first and biggest crowdsourcing competition encouraging the use of technology to promote the best and most unique stories about Philippine culture and heritage. The initiative seeks to get the youth to contribute to the development and promotion of local tourism.
All the winning teams in this year’s DPSA Awards each received P30,000.

“The content we saw was very impressive, and it’s good to know that the contest received participation from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,” said one of the judges, Department of Tourism Assistant Secretary Arthur Boncato.
“It’s good to see the youth participating in this endeavor, as every Filipino can be a major factor in promoting our tourist destinations. I also saw a lot of pride of place, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to achieve at DOT,” he added.
“Today is the age of video. More and more of our mobile data traffic is driven by video. And anyone with a smart- phone can create nice videos. DPSA taps this skill and puts it to good use,” said Smart public affairs head Mon Isberto.
“But this program isn’t just about promoting tourism, it is also about appreciating our hometown and ourselves as a people,” he added.
