BI officers want Pacquiao’s ex-coach blacklisted
Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) want the former coach of boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao blacklisted for being arrogant.
In a report to BI Commissioner Ronaldo Geron, Regina Fernandez, acting collection officer at the NAIA, said Alex Ariza, a US citizen, should be placed on the BI’s blacklist and barred from returning to the country.
Ariza is now working for Floyd Mayweather.
Records showed that Ariza arrived in the Philippines on Dec. 14, 2015.
His visa was valid only up to Jan. 13.
On Sunday, Ariza was about to depart for the US at the NAIA Terminal 1 when BI officers asked him to settle a fine of P11,728 for overstaying.
Fernandez said Ariza got mad and threatened the BI officers.
“He raised his voice and got angry when I said he had to pay in cash,” Fernandez said. “This is extortion. I want to talk to your supervisor immediately,” Ariza was quoted as saying.
Fernandez issued a receipt to Ariza and advised him to fall in line at the BI counter for stamping of his passport.
Ariza disregarded Fernandez’s instruction and went straight to the counter, bypassing the diplomats and senior citizens who were in line.
Ariza was only allowed to leave after he settled his penalty for overstaying.
