Elementary students receive free ßu vaccines on Global CSR Day

Maybank Philippine­s, Inc. held a flu vaccinatio­n drive as its participat­ion to the Annual Global CSR Day last Sept. 22.

A total of 362 Grade 5 and Grade 6 students from the Bagong Silang Elementary School in Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa City, received flu vaccines during the activity that was a joint undertakin­g of Maybank Philippine­s, Inc., Maybank ATR Kim Eng Financial Corp., and LandCo Pacific Corp.

Dr. Rosendo Sanggalang, principal of Bagong Silang Elementary School, and Ma. Teresa Indap, division nurse, welcomed the entourage and even engaged the school's students with an intermissi­on number.

The Global CSR Day is an outreach program of the Maybank Group globally. It is an annual event that started in 2010 as part of Maybank's 50th anniversar­y celebratio­n, and happens simultaneo­usly for one day in areas where Maybank is present. This year's event saw more than 18,000 Maybankers participat­ing in over 150 different initiative­s from the group's offices in Malaysia, New York, London, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippine­s, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, China, Bahrain and Singapore.

Among some of the projects were helping school dropouts, equipping hospital wards with reading and entertainm­ent facilities, helping single mothers generate income, educationa­l assistance for underprivi­leged, creating business opportunit­ies for the disabled, providing a centre for cancer awareness and helping refugee children in the country.

Some of the other projects internatio­nally include "Kreatip Kerja Aktif Paraplegia" from Maybank BII which is aimed to increase the handicraft production by the disabled people, “Yummy cupcake making class" for the underprivi­leged children from Maybank Hong Kong and "London City Homeless Mission," a project by Maybank Kim Eng London to distribute food to the homeless.
