Venezuelan-made crown awaits Ms. Tacloban 2018
TACLOBAN CITY — A Venezuelan-made crown, reportedly worth a thousand dollar, will be worn by the winner of the Miss Tacloban 2018 beauty pageant, and her successor, the crown donor Richard White told the local media.
White said the crown was made exclusively for Miss Tacloban titleholders, starting this year, by famous Venezuelan pageant crownmaker George Wittels, famous worldwide for his designs and creations of crowns since 1999 for a number of international beauty pageants.
The Wittels crown for this year’s Miss Tacloban was “drawn from nature with an intricate intertwining of lily flowers, leaves and branches,” in homage to Mother Earth, said White.
He said the Miss Tacloban’s official crown “symbolizes power, legitimacy, victory, triumph, honor, glory and righteousness. It also represents the advocacies of the organization, therefore must be treated with utmost care.
The crown must be worn by titleholders in public and private events, coronations, parades, and other official functions of Miss Tacloban, said White.
White will designate an official crown keeper who will take good care of the Miss Tacloban crown when it is not being worn by the titleholder, adding that certain rules will be imposed to maintain the crown’s original design.
The 12 women who will be competing in the Miss Tacloban 2018 pageant are: Angel Raquel Gregorio; Ruth Marie “Pippay” Gavane; Pauline Clarisse “Pau” Carisma; Patricia Pauline “Patty” Labugin; Cassandra Marie “Cassy” Lee; Ivy Mae de Mesa; Christine Jane “Jin-Jin” Jara; Khristel Loirah “Jel” Pulga; Ashley “Ash” Ponce; Kimberley Rose “Kim” Ruedas; Marie Carmen Songalia; and Dulcinea Yobhel “Bhel” Labanta.
Tacloban City Mayor Cristina Romualdez said the Ms. Tacloban 2018 coronation night will be held on June 22 at the Tacloban Astrodome, as part of the Tacloban’s annual fiesta celebration.
