Bringing mentorship closer to all Filipinos
Go Negosyo’s Mentor Me on Wheels (MMOW) officially launched its first leg in Music Hall, SM Mall of Asia last May 11.
MMOW is one of the programs of Go Negosyo to achieve the battle-cry of Pilipinas Angat Lahat!
More than 500 aspiring and existing micro and small entrepreneurs have registered to the first and biggest one-onone negosyo mentoring session. The free event also welcomed walk-in attendees.
Following the successes of Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program and Kapatid Agri Mentor ME Program (KAMMP), MMOW is an effort to further expand Go Negosyo’s program reach nationwide, especially to those aspiring and underserved entrepreneurs from different areas. The program also provides an avenue for capacity building in realizing President Duterte’s goal of building an inclusive economy where prosperity is felt by all Filipinos.
Attendees experienced a 30-minute one-on-one mentoring from the pool of 80 successful Go Negosyo Mentors including Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez. Active mentors from the KMME and KAMMP all volunteered their time and effort to share their knowledge, expertise and business tips to the mentees.
“Mentorship is the ultimate way of helping our small entrepreneurs grow,” PA Joey Concepcion said. He also introduced the mobile application which will help “bring mentorship at your fingertips” nationwide. The Mentor Me app will soon be available to all mobile phone users.
DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez shared that this event is “really a testament to a much closer partnership with the government and private sector”. He also commended Go Negosyo and the private sectors’ initiatives in bringing successful and experienced mentors closer to all Filipinos.
Modules on entrepreneurial mind-setting and marketing to provide supplemental knowledge on setting up and running micro and small businesses have been discussed. The first module primarily focuses on establishing the foundation of a values-oriented entrepreneur. The second module, on the other hand, provides crash courses on marketing strategy, value proposition, and brand sustenance.
Attending the free one-onone mentorship was an enlightening experience for JB Estrada. “Sometimes, ako as a dreamer, as a businessman who thinks positively or thinks about the opportunities sometimes kailangan maging realistic and at the same time be practical,” he continued. The mentorship session enabled him to have a concrete vision for his bakery. He was able to share also about their closed trucking business. PA Joey will then be linking him to his own company, RFM Corporation, and to explore collaboration and development for their business.
Through MMOW, aspiring and would-be business owners can now be equipped with the technical and practical know-how on entrepreneurship in more convenient and accessible locations. It is in line with the current administration’s vision to capacitate micro-small businesses in boosting the Philippine economy.
Go Negosyo plans to roll out this program in different areas by partnering with various malls nationwide.
