PRO-7 sets to adjust to Albayalde’s orders

- MAE CLYDYL L. AVILA

With the change in leadership at the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is set to adjust and improve ways in managing its daily operations.

PRO-7 Director Robert Quenery, who arrived fresh from the turnover of command for the newly-installed PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde, said that Albayalde’s marching orders were to better efficacy on illegal drugs and intensify internal cleansing.

“Ipagpatuloy ang antiillegal drug campaign, palakasin ito, at ipagpatuloy ang nasimulan,” Quenery said.

He said that Albayalde emphasized on enhancing the discipline of the all policemen through internal cleansing, and rigid training for all new recruits.

This by instituting the PNP’s Special Action Force elite unit training to recruits.

“It will not only better the character build of every policeman but also provide better skills to protect and serve,” Quenery said.

He added that those who may fear the rigorous training for six months should better realize that they will also reap an entry pay of almost P40,000.

He expects that the rigorous training of the Special Action Force (SAF) will serve as foundation as well to veer away from corruption.

However, he cautions that the PNP will be stricter in recruiting, as there are reports that some newbie policemen who came from training had previous criminal cases.

“Strengthen background investigation on police recruits those entering the PNP, palakasin, may ilan may mga kaso nung civilian pa, na nakapasok sa kapulisan. Papalakasin ang CounterIntelligence Task-Force to focus on the policemen who are doing illegal activities,” Quenery said.

He said this was meant to improve the image of the organization, which was previously tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte, as “most corrupt organization.”
